This summertime engagement session of Katie & Eric at the Pirate Tower in Victoria Beach and Laguna Beach in California was everything. Laguna Beach is so popular for engagement photos and it is easy to see why! Between the cliffs and golden sun and perfect crashes of waves, you can’t go wrong. Further, into it, Victoria Beach doesn’t disappoint either!
A lil bit About Pirate Tower
First of all Pirate Tower is incredible! It is definitely known for being one of the most unique must-see spots in Southern California. Standing right against a cliff in Laguna Beach it is an impressive site. Believe it or not, it has very little to do with pirates and more so to do with the French and style of the tower itself. It was actually built at the same time as the house that is above it on the bluff and was used as a means for getting down onto the stretch of sand below, now known as Victoria Beach.
For the Adventurer | How to Get to Pirate Tower:
I wish I still had that option when I was trying to find Katie & Eric haha I actually ended up parking a mile down Laguna beach and climbed through all the rocks and crannies and then realized they were not where I originally thought!! Fun fact, while the pirate tower is all kinds of epic it isn’t the easiest to get to!
For anyone wanting to get to Pirate Tower expect to drive about an hour and a half (assuming you live in Los Angeles or San Diego). I actually flew in from John Wayne and drove straight there and it was about the same amount of time for me too!
Considering how crazy it was for me to park there, I HIGHLY recommend parking in a parking garage nearby in Laguna if you can and then ubering from there. If you’re braver than I am, try to park on the Pacific Coast Highway near McAulay Place. From this point find Victoria Drive and you should be able to access a stairway that will take you down to Victoria Beach! This awesome blog helped me find it and if you need more specifics definitely check it out!
Katie & Eric and I spent the rest of the day after my crazy adventure of getting there getting soaked and sun-kissed. Living in the PNW I don’t get that much sun these days so this was such an amazing excuse to lay out in the sun and still be able to call it work. *wink wink*
