Portland Wedding Venue Highlight: Cooper’s Hall
Cooper’s Hall is one of the best venues in Portland and I highly recommend it to any couple who is on the hunt for a unique and modern wedding venue! The venue is located in the heart of Portland’s Industrial District, and its industrial-chic style makes it a popular choice for couples looking for a non-traditional wedding venue! I photographed Victoria & Benito’s special day and they used it for both their ceremony & reception and I thought it would be a perfect way to share more about one of my favorite venue spaces!
Why Pick Cooper’s Hall as your Wedding Venue?
There are so many reasons to pick Cooper’s Hall as your Wedding Venue, but I think the most important to highlight is the space itself. The venue is spacious and open, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The space is super flexible and can be made to fit a variety of wedding styles and sizes, from intimate ceremonies to full-out party-filled receptions. The venue’s interior design is modern, with exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and industrial-chic lighting fixtures. My favorite thing about this venue is that it speaks for itself. If you are a couple that is wanting to come into a space that has already done most of the work for you, this should definitely be a contender. Cooper’s Hall has the most beautiful backdrop of wine barrels and greenery filling each corner! You could come in with minimal decor of your own and still have an incredible space to celebrate in. That being said, it’s also a great choice for couples who want a lot of flexibility in terms of their wedding design and layout, as the open space can be customized to fit a variety of styles and themes!
Another standout feature of Cooper’s Hall is its unique wine bar, which is built into the venue. It adds to the atmosphere of the space and makes it perfect for any wedding reception where your guests are able to enjoy a drink easily while they mingle and dance! It also makes your life easier that the venue provides this service for you and it is not something you have to source out of house!
Hotel Recommendation near Cooper’s Hall
Before we get to the venue itself, it is so important to choose the right getting-ready space for your wedding day! Victoria & Benito chose The Hotel Grand Stark and I would highly recommend it! The bold, bespoke, and contemporary, space is located within Portland’s vibrant Central Eastside! As a photographer, I was obsessed with it. It is so unique and creative and perfectly embodies the independent spirit of the Pacific Northwest. In terms of your wedding day, the main things that I would highlight would be: great light (amazing for your HMUA & photos), incredible space and experience, and of course, it is very close to Cooper’s Hall, your wedding venue!
Cooper’s Hall Wedding Packages and Pricing
This venue offers a range of options to meet your needs and budgets! **Please keep in mind these prices are subject to change and may vary depending on the season and day of the week!!
Most couples who have their wedding at Coopers Hall will have a food and beverage average between $4k and $10k and the ceremony fee is $500 per event. They also have beverage packages that begin at $40 per person, however, the actual cost is based on the quantity consumed. Finally, your service charge is 22%.
If you are looking to find a way to save, keep in mind that rates are generally high during peak season, which is considered April-December, and are typically lower from January-March.
Cooper’s Hall Food & Wine
One of the most unique things about this venue is its emphasis on sustainability, eco-friendly practices, and farm-to-table ingredients! The head chef Keith Morris who leads the kitchen at Coopers Hall is incredible!! His specialty leans into his classic French and Alsatian background, which makes for one of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had!
As for the wine, the same theme continues as Cooper’s Hall is “an urban winery that puts sustainability first.” Their vineyard where they get their wine, produced by their partner Phil Kramer, is LIVE certified and includes Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer grapes.
Coopers Hall Event Spaces
Another really special thing about this venue is the multiple event spaces! If you are planning on flipping the room for your ceremony or reception or just want cocktail hour to be in a different space, you have access to the Taproom, the Mezzanine, and the Barrel Room.
The Taproom is the main space of the venue! This is where Victoria & Benito chose to have both their wedding ceremony as well as their reception!
The Mezzanine is just up the stairs and has a view of the space below! It can be used for a more intimate wedding if you are wanting a smaller space or it can be rented as a separate area for your guests to come to hang out in! For this couple, they chose to share their private vows here and then hosted a Photobooth at the end of the night!
The Barrel Room is a semi-private space on the main floor of the winery production area, and has a capacity of up to 70 guests!
Wedding Portrait Locations near Cooper’s Hall Wedding
When it comes time for wedding portraits, we have several options! Being located in the heart of Portland these are some of my favorite recommendations for couples:
- The Pearl District: If you are not wanting to go far from the party then the best option is just outside the doors of the venue! Let’s photograph you babes walking around the cute neighborhoods and in the midst of all the industrial and modern architecture! One of my favorite spots to go to is the Lovejoy Columns!
- Lan Su Chinese Garden: This spot is a little bit more of a drive but might be perfect if you are wanting some peaceful time for just the two of you! The garden has a tea house, pavilions, and a lake so there is no shortage of options!
- Forest Park: For my couples who love the outdoors and want to have a mix of both industrial and nature, Forest Park is a must!! Its a backdrop to some of the most beautiful trails and we don’t have to go very far to get access to some beautiful scenery!
