An Intimate Mt.Baker Wedding

Mt. Baker became the backdrop for this incredibly beautiful day. Every detail and part of the design drew from the incredible backdrop or highlighted some part of it. The day began at The Blackbird Lodge, a completely renovated home with a Scandinavian/Mid Century design. Celia & Ethan are both such talented human beings and they chose a space that would lend itself to that artistic nature, starting the day off with such quiet intimacy and soft light. I love that Celia & Ethan chose to break wedding norms by having brunch instead of a reception. They celebrated at Hotel Bellwether, a luxury hotel by Bellingham Bay. With panoramic water views and distant mountain backdrops, including Mt. Baker and the San Juan Islands, even the hotel highlighted their love for Mt. Baker and included it in their wedding day. Brunch was so festive and filled with tearful reunions, champagne towers, and lots of cake. After brunch, we all prepared for their ceremony. The ceremony took place at Horseshoe Bend Trail. They wanted their wedding day to be an adventure for their guests and this was the kick-off for that. The initial mile followed the roaring river, and as the trail moved away from the river, we found ourselves in this beautiful space the two had chosen for their vows. Promises were made under towering trees, rings were warmed by the hands of loved ones, and their first kiss as a married couple was made under a shower of bubbles and laughter and cheer.

As their beautiful day came to an end, guests gathered at the Artist Point parking lot for a sunset picnic facing Mount Baker. Surrounded by wildflowers, the location offered panoramic views of American Border Peak, Mt. Larrabee, Goat Mountain, and a distant peak of Mt. Stuart as guests toasted and shared stories about their love for Celia & Ethan. In the final moments, with sunset on the horizon, we hiked to Huntoon Point and it was everything. The sky was exploding in color and the storm clouds broke open for the most magical light and the day came to a close with mountains covered in fog and these sweet two holding each other taking it all in.
